Problem: Network Design (20%) You are given a specific small address range of only 128 addresses. As a network engineer you are to initially identify the subnets of this company department based on the requirement. Specifically, you are asked to assign the appropriate subnet ranges based on the following requirements:

  • The subnet does not belong to the given address range. This means that the addresses of the HQ subnet are given, as shown in the topology, and you no need to worry about it.
  • Each location is represented by only one PC, as shown in the figure. This does not mean there is only one PC (i.e., one address) in the location. You need to find out the size of each location using the subnet mask provided. For example, the Sales location has the subnet mask of /27, which means that you need to allocate 32 addresses for this site.
  • With the exception of the HQ subnet, the other subnets must have IP addresses range that belongs to the 128-address range given to you. For example, assume that you are assigned the address range (128 address in total), the IP addresses of the subnets must be between 10.10 .10 .0 and 10.10 .10 .127 .
  • Each student in the class is assigned a different address range. Refer to the Appendix at the end of this document to know the address range assigned to you next to your name.

What do you need to submit for this problem? Submit a file in PDF format that shows a table with two columns. This table should shows all the required subnets in the figure above that (excluding the HQ subnet) along with their IP address ranges. Use the following table as a template to submit your answer. Example:

Subnet

Address Range

Continued from previous message:

Location Address Range Sales 10.0.0.0/27 Marketing 10.0.0.32/27 Accounting 10.0.0.64/26 IT 10.0.0.128/25 Management 10.0.1.0/24

Note: The address ranges are calculated based on the given 128-address range and the subnet masks provided in the figure. The HQ subnet is not included in this table as its address range is already given in the figure.

  1. Determine the subnet mask for each location based on the number of required addresses. For example, a /27 subnet mask allows for 32 addresses.
  2. Assign an IP address range to each subnet within the given address range, excluding the HQ subnet. The IP address range should fall within the given address range.
  3. Create a table with two columns: Subnet and Address Range.
  4. Populate the table with the subnet names and their corresponding IP address ranges.
  5. Save the table as a PDF file for submission.
