Problem Statement: A refrigeration system operates on the ideal vapor compression refrigeration cycle. The evaporator and condenser pressures are 200 kPa and 2000 kPa, respectively. The temperatures of the low temperature and high- temperature mediums are - 10 C and 25 C, respectively. If the rate of heat rejected in the condenser is 20 kW. Using EES software, with the following refrigerants as working fluid: 1) ammonia, 2) R-134a, and 3) R-22 (a) Plot P-h and T-s diagrams (using EES) for each cycle (ammonia, R-134a, and R-22 cycle). (b) Vary the evaporator pressure (Pevap.) between 100 and 400 kPa (use 100 kPa steps) and the condenser pressure (Pcond.) between 1000 and 2000 kPa (use 500 kPa steps), study the effect of evaporator and condenser pressures on the COP and cooling capacity (QL) of the cycle (i.e. plot COP versus Pevap, and Pcond for each cycle, plot QL versus Pevap and Pcond).
