PROBLEM STATEMENT: Consider an automobile traveling over a rough road at a speed of v km/hr. The suspension system has a spring constant of 40 kN/m and a damping ratio of 0.1. The road surface varies sinusoidally with an amplitude of Y= 0.04 m and a wavelength of 5m. (i) Find the displacement amplitude of the automobile for the following conditions: (a) mass of the automobile = 600 kg (empty), 1000 kg (loaded) (b) Velocity of the automobile (v): 10 km/hr, 50 km/hr, 100 km/hr. , (ii) Find the transmitted force to the vehicle for each of the cases. In your calculations of the difference cases, you can use a MATLAB or excel. x(t) y(t) m 112 00000 Runway 1) You are required to show your work in deriving the equations used for this problem. Free-body diagram is required along with application of Newton's second law to obtain your EOM. 2) You should be able to explain clearly your MATLAB script used for this project. 3) Tabulate your results and discuss it in details. What are your observations? Can you explain the reason(s) for the behavior? PROBLEM STATEMENT: Consider an automobile traveling over a rough road at a speed of v km/hr.
