Problem-1: An Investigation of the CaCO3, CaF2, K2SiO3 and SiO2 -Fe Flux System using the Submerged Arc Welding Process on HSLA-100 and AISI-181 Steels describes an experiment in which welding fluxes with differing chemical compositions were prepared. Several welds were made, using each flux on AISI-1018 steel base metal. The results of hardness measurements, on the Brunel scale, of the five welds, using each of the four fluxes, are presented in the Table below. a) State your Hypotheses to test whether welding fluxes with differing chemical compositions affect the hardness of the welding. b) Construct ANOVA Table to test the Hypotheses in part a (Assuming =0.05 )? c) Q2- Estimate the overall mean and the treatment effects? d) Q3- Compute a 95 percent interval estimate of the mean of treatment 3? e) Q4- Compute a 95 percent interval estimate of the mean difference between treatment 3 and 1 ? f) Test all pairs of means using the Least Significant Difference (LSD) Method with =0.05. Assuming higher hardness is preferable.
