Part 1 : Jupyter notebook Displaying images using MatplotLib

Download the attached stinkbug.png image. Images can be displayed using Python and Matplotlib. The code cell below demonstrates how to read and display an image with Matplotlib. Ensure the image you want to display is in the same directory as the Jupyter notebook :

Import numpy as np

import matplotlib.pyplot as plt

%matplotlibinline

image=plt.imread('stinkbug.png')

fig,ax=plt.subplots()

ax.imshow(image)

plt.show()

The stinkbug.png image is a gray scale image, but Matplotlib renders it as a color image. Include an extra argument in the ax.imshow()method to choose a different color map as ax.imshow(image, cmap == terrain)

Also be familiar with Pythons input() function and print() function. Here is a list of possible colormap options. Choose any one and include in the line

Part 2 - Create and run a Python file .py file

Create a python file using Jupyter notebook as per the video in Week 5. Call it Lab5_Sequence.py

Give a comment line stating Input as string

Type in the following code: applicant = input("Enter the applicant's name: ") interviewer = input("Enter the interviewer's name: ") time = input("Enter the appointment time: ") print(interviewer, "will interview", applicant, "at", time)

Now modify the code to include the following statements :

print(interviewer + ' will interview ' + applicant + ' at ' + time +'.') print(interviewer, ' will interview ', applicant, ' at ', time, '.', sep=|) print('{} will interview {} at {}.'.format(interviewer, applicant, time))

Save the file and Run the file in Jupyter notebook with %run Lab5_Sequence.py Run the file at anaconda prompt using file name Lab5_Sequence.py To do so, Click on Anaconda prompt (Anaconda 3) from Start Menu You will see something like

(base) C:\Users dtea> Type python followed by the file name you wish to run and press enter (base) C:\Users dtea>python Lab5_Sequence.py Take care to type in the file name exactly including the .py extension The file should run with no errors.

Add the following code to Lab5_sequence.py file Write code to

accept using input() any two numbers a and b from user print out the following using print()

Sum of two numbers : a+b Difference of two numbers: b-a Product of two numbers : a*b Division of two numbers : b/a Raised to power of : a raised to power of b log10 of each number: log10(a), log10(b) modulo of two numbers : b % a

Use an appropriate print format to display all the results of these operations. It should display the two numbers, the operators used, and the results obtained in a complete sentence. For example

print(Sum of the numbers a and b : a + b =, a + b)

Print each output on a different line. Format the results up to two decimal places. Run the file in Jupyter notebook with %run Lab5_Sequence.py Run the file at Anaconda prompt using file name Lab5_Sequence.py (base) C:\Users dtea>python Lab5_Sequence.py

Take care to type in the file name exactly including the .py extension The file should run with no errors.

Upload your Lab5_sequence.py file and the Lab5_Images.ipynb file
