Project Assignment

Please remember it is a team reflection of the project of your choice. Whichever project you select as final topic is acceptable. You will work to create the business case / project charter* document fora project idea.

A short video (3 minutes) on Reflective Learning is here: https://youtu.be/iBmtH0Qx0YU

Part 1 - Business Case / Project Charter Your team is not expected to be familiar with all the technical aspects of the project; however, this assignment requires that you apply your knowledge of the typical life cycle of projects and the processes that occur within them. Therefore, do not concentrate on the technology or technical solutions - focus instead on the management of this project as stated in the case, using relevant best practices.

Part 1 Contents: The evaluation of the assignment will be based on the Business Case / Project Charter** document, containing, the organizational context A summary of the basic problem that the project is suggesting to solve.. What business objectives and business benefits are expected? What is to be performed to deliver them? And who is to achieve them?

A high-level description of the major deliverables to be produced, within the project constraints of time and budget. Project organizational structure, providing a correct identification of the roles and responsibilities of the stakeholders (not the team mates only, all stakeholders and their titles, not necessarily the names), project team members, and how the project will be organized in terms of the relationships of team members and management.

A brief description of the project strategy - A high-level definition of the project in terms of a general sequence of milestones to successfully accomplish all deliverables. An initial summary of project risks and potential mitigation approaches. You may use appropriate template (checkwww.projectmanagement.compls) in certain categories of your Charter/Scope document.

Part 2 - Deliverable based WBS + Activities = Schedule Working with your Group Members, develop aPreliminary WBS,using MS-Project or Excel, that illustrates the possible structure of the project work hierarchy, starting from general concepts level down to detailed Work Packages, that you recommend at this stage for your project. The WBS shall include thedeliverables(WHAT to deliver) you initially identified in your charter/Preliminary scope document and Activities on HOW to deliver the WBS items.. ] The Initial WBS Deliverable Content Show at least 3 work detail levels in MOST of the areas of your WBS; (i.e. Major Work Level and 2 additional sub-task levels). Additionally, you will need to includeappropriate project management tasks; such as team meetings, training and testing tasks in all appropriate areas of the WBS for your project. Include all the features you have learned in class about WBS including code numbering. Show all tasks, and focus on WHAT your project will deliver, in the form of NOUNS. Remember action verbs can only be used for activities after you agree on the scope /work of WHAT to deliver and start mentioning HOW to deliver those. That will include full list of activities, resource loadings, costing, etc. Show the WBS as MS-Project or Excel file as a PDF document or picture, and embed it to the presentation. Then show the activities embedded into the MS-Project or Excel file as a PDF document or picture, and embed it to the presentation.
