Project Description

The aim of the CS$372$ Group Project is to assess the students' knowledge gained from

lectures and self$-$study through living the experience of working within teams to

develop a particular database system using main database concepts, techniques, and

modeling schemas.

Students should work in groups $(5$ students in each group$)$ to accomplish the tasks stated

below. Members in each group should work equally and ethically on their projects and

communicate effectively and professionally with their colleagues. Their participation

will be assessed through presentations and questions. Remember that poor peer

evaluation affects your final mark.

Project Requirements $($Tasks$)$

Consider that you are a member of a team working on a project to develop a database

management system. You are required to identify the user specification by highlighting

the data requirement $($identify what type of data needs to be stored in the database$).$

Then, design and draw the ER conceptual model by sub$-$dividing the system $($mini$-$

world problem$)$ into entities, attributes, and relationships. Once you complete the task

of designing and drawing the ER diagram, you are required to design the relational

model by mapping the ER to a logical schema. Please highlight the mapping process

steps in your design.

Project Idea: Business trips of salespersons

Tracks of business trips of salespersons in a sales office. The office has a

number of salespersons working on a number of teams. It is desired to keep

track of each trip for each salesperson. Every salesperson has an EID,

name, gender, mobile, and salary. Each team has an ID$,$ a unique name, a

leader $($one of the team salespersons$).$ Every trip starts from a city to

another city, has a departure and return dates, expenses amount, a number

of contracts and their amounts.
