Proposal and Sample
Directions
This assignment will be based on the following scenario about Bob's Small Time Grocery:
Background: Bob's Small Time Grocery has sent a request for proposal (RFP) for designing a simple website for their business. They are unsure what they want, but they do not want to pay for more than 3 pages. They also want to see samples of styling using their company colors: green (#00FF48) and red (#FF0000). You must provide a proposal that focuses on providing value to the customer instead of promoting your business. You must also provide a styled page with examples of headings, a form, text, etc.
For this assignment, you will provide a web site development proposal with three (3) proposed web pages that will be most valuable to the customer needs. This proposal should be written in a professional tone since you are communicating with a potential customer.
You will also create a sample styling page for the customer using your account at CodePly. Colors for the styling page are provided in Styling Page Components.
NOTE: You cannot Fork the CodePly created in LP01 Learning Activities so you must create a new page for LP01 Assignment
Writing Guidelines:
- Prepare a web site development proposal that will be 2-3 pages in length (not including a title page)
- Use a 12 point font (Arial or Times New Roman)
- Use single-spaced lines instead of double-spaced
- Use APA style citations for any references
- Cite any information referenced from another source
- Use correct sentence structure and grammar
- Maintain professional and polite tones
Proposal Components:
- Title page contains a heading of "Web Site Proposal" at the top of the page.
- Title page lists who the proposal is prepared for (Bob's Small Time Grocery) and who prepared it (your name and NAU e-mail address).
- First section called "Introduction". Thank the potential customer for their interest in your expertise in designing their web site. Discuss the benefits of a professionally designed web site.
- Second section called "Timeline". Create a table with at least three major milestones in creation of their web site and the associated completion dates. Milestones can reflect the major phases of web design from the LP01 content.
- Third section called "Deliverables". Discuss deliverables or outcomes from each of the milestones. Include three pages that you propose creating for the potential customer. Example pages include home page, about, gallery, store, contact us, news, etc. For each of the three pages, discuss why you chose that type of page and the type of content that you propose adding.
- Fourth section called "Estimates". List fictitious prices for the various milestones. This is not a Statement of Work because there is no formal contract.
- Final section called "References". List at least 5 web sites that your fictitious company designed. You may list your favorite web sites for simplicity.
Styling Page Components:
- The header and footer areas must use background color (#00B232), a complementary color based on the customer's colors.
- The page must display level 1 heading elements with text color (#B20000), a complementary color based on the customer's colors.
- The page must use Open Sans font for all body text. Paste the following import statement at the top of your CSS section in CodePly and you will be able to reference the font-family "Open Sans"
- @import url ('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans')
- The page must use Times New Roman font for all headings.
- The header area must display a level 1 heading with the text "Sample Page" uppercased via CSS.
- The header area must display a block quote directly beneath the "Sample Page" heading and it must contain the text "Example Motto".
- The body area must contain a section with a paragraph using lorem ipsum text (without quotes): "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim veniam, quis nostrud exercitation ullamco laboris nisi ut aliquip ex ea commodo consequat. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur. Excepteur sint occaecat cupidatat non proident, sunt in culpa qui officia deserunt mollit anim id est laborum."
- The body area must contain a section containing level 2-6 headings with the text "Heading" for each.
- The body area must contain a section containing a form with a text box, text area, dropdown, and submit button.
- The footer area must contain a div with the text "Copyright 2016" and the text must float to the left side of the page
- The footer area must contain a mailto link with the text "My Mail" that links to your NAU e-mail address and the text must float to the right side of the page
