Similarly, Khalid and Li (2021) reveal that Malaysia's export-oriented manufacturing sector has played a significant role in uplifting the rural population by providing them with opportunities to work in higher-paying jobs. With the rise of the manufacturing sector, rural educated workers have been able to transition from low-skilled jobs to high-income jobs, which has helped reduce poverty rates and contributed to the overall economic growth.
