provide an economic analysis on one of the economic statistics below (for example Initial Claims for unemployment) what the number is/means, its economic significance, how it has changed (or trended) over the last year or so, etc. What type of indicator is it (leading, coincident, lagging)? Is it part of one of the composites of economic indicators we covered early in the term? Be sure to include all the numbers provided for that indicator in your discussion. Comment on each of the numbers given in that statistic's release. One or more tables or graphs of your construction are strongly recommended. Please indicate the date (below) of your indicator release.

Then, extrapolate out six months (see note that follows) to a year (forward) with your prediction (quantified in numbers) of the data and its implications. You must come up with your own numbers, and explain briefly how you arrived at them. You might look at trends, averages, recent activity, the current economic situation, etc. If the statistic is a weekly release, like EIA Natural Gas Inventories, you only need to predict out the next 6 to 8 weeks.

Suggestion is to include at least one table or graph in your paper (one Word document only).

Notes of descriptions:

Brief.com forecast is Briefing.com forecast for the number

Consensus is market consensus(cons) estimate for that indicator

Prior is last actual for the indicator. If a revision form an earlier estimate, last actual is preliminary estimate for prior period. Once the report is released, prior is prior figure as revised

Below is data as of 10/14/22. On Friday 10/21, I will likely add that week's indicators as well, and you any one from the two groups. You must indicate the date your indicator was posted.
