U.S. economy, like any other economy is globalized. In that context, will the policy of "America first" help U.S. economy grow at a steady rate? Provide references to your discussion
I understand the slogan of America First and how it could be used to bring our nation together, however, I believe that in order to strengthen an economy it is necessary to branch out or stay globalized. In the context of economics, trading with foreign countries in my opinion is necessary for the growth of our economy. America First could be linked to nationalism, and nationalism could be perceived as "lets take care of ourselves and who cares about anyone else." I feel that this mentality could burn bridges which could affect our ability to trade, or more specifically, "the exports of goods and services" which could bring down our GDP and weaken our economy. I don't believe that the policy of "America first" will help our economy grow at a steady rate. In todays day and age no country is entirely a "closed economy." And if we were to start heading in that direction now I believe our economy would struggle financially and also bring down moral with it due to the lack of foreign goods that we appreciate so much in the United States daily. Due to the presence of global economy, it has become easier for countries to attract short-term and long-term investment. Investments in developing countries go a long way in improving their economies (Accounting & Finanace. How does the global economy work? Edology).
