Provide some examples of discrete and continuous variables. What attributes of these variables make them discrete and continuous? Why?

Discrete random variable, "...that can assume only certain clearly separated values." (Lind, 2018, p. 193) The discrete numbers are numbers that are whole numbers. The number of bears that my daughters have is 4 and the number that they wish was 12. The actual physical things that you can count. These values are important and are used for a business to know the actual physical stock in their merchandise. A continuous random variable, "...can assume an infinite number of values within a given range. It is measured in a continuous interval or ratio scale." (Lind, 2018, p. 194) These are ratios or any number between one and Zero. Like the absolute value of pie equals 22/7. The value of pie is an important constant. The value is important and allows for the equation to have a constant number when trying to find the answer to an equation.
