PSYCHOLOGY OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY QUESTIONS:

1. Discuss what you look to in order to decide whether or not someone's actions are discriminatory. At what point might you have determined that the saleswoman's behaviors were discriminatory toward the man? How much does the man's perception of the events matter in your decision? 2.Discuss the Asian American man's going back into the store. Do you feel he did enough to address the issue? What might he have done differently? If you were the man, what would you have done? Would you have done more (i.e., go to management directly)? If not, why not? 3.Discuss the interchange from the perspective of the saleswoman and the man. What do think each person was experiencing individually? What were they sharing relationally? 4.For the woman who was identified as an ally, what would you have wanted her to say to the store manager? What elements of her comments would be respectful of the man and be the most beneficial?
