Punitive disciplinary approaches- Punitive discipline can include withholding pay, subjecting an employee to humiliation, demotion, or a cut in pay (Lubin, 2021). Punitive discipline is flawed logic that treating people progressively worse will eventually lead them to improve (Pennington, 2021). Punishment can harm our organization. It can lead employees to resent their job, organization in effect job performance. It can also have them lose focus on the commitment to organizational vision (Pennington, 2021). Punitive discipline can make employees feel injustice, a lack of motivation and unwillingness to propose improvements (Sciendo.com(n.d)
