Purpose: Through this assignment, you will be able to translate your learning this week into a useful, visually appealing product. Whether or not you decide to share your finished product through one of the suggested means, you are developing an important skill: consolidating learned material into a visually appealing presentation. This is also an example of "giving psychology away," an important value to psychologists that refers to our desire to share psychological knowledge and findings with non-psychologists in order to benefit everyone.

Compose a visual presentation of terminology you have learned (or relearned) this week. You may use the terminology resources provided this week or any additional resources of your own. This visual presentation should be designed to present this information to a broad audience, such as a social media posting. You may choose the theme for your presentation and what terms you wish to include. Ideas to get you started are below (note: these are suggestions and options).

• An infographic comparing previous understandings or outdated terminology with what you have learned this week
• Slides/images that could become a small photo album, Instagram post, or Twitter thread
• Informational posters pairing concepts with inclusive photos, designed to be appropriate for a given setting (e.g., K-12 school, university health center, workplace, church, family center)

CISGENDER

An individual whose gender identity aligns with the gender assigned to them at birth.

FTM/F2M

An abbreviation of female-to-male, which can describe an individual's identity or the orientation of their transition. Popular in the 20th century.

GENDER AFFIRMATION SURGERY

Various medical procedures used to alter the appearance and function of individuals' bodies to better align with their gender identity. Such procedures are referred to by a number of terms such as gender confirmation surgery, gender reassignment surgery, sex affirmation surgery, andsex realignment surgery, as well as historical terms such as sex change and sexual reassignment surgery (SRS).

GENDER DYSPHORIA

The distress or discomfort an individual feels due to discontinuity between their gender and the sex they were assigned at birth, their physical body, and/or the way their gender is perceived by others. Evidence of gender dysphoria is required by many medical professionals to assist a person in their medical transition; as a result, it has been controversial in trans communities.

TOP SURGERY

A colloquial term describing surgical procedures that result in breast or chest appearances that better align with an individual's gender identity, including breast augmentation to feminize one's appearance or chest reconstruction to masculinize it.

TWO-SPIRIT

An umbrella term coined in 1990 at the Third Annual Inter-tribal Native American/First Nations Gay and Lesbian American Conference to describe historical and current Native American/First Nations people whose identitiesand ceremonial and social roles areassociated with gender variance. Because Indigenous conceptions of gender, sex, and sexuality differ dramatically across communities and from Western terms like gay, lesbian, and transgender, defining two-spirit in English for a non-Indigenous audience is difficult.
