Q1. An 8-cylinder diesel engine has a front main bearing 88mm in diameter and 50mm long. The bearing has a central annular oil groove 6mm wide. It is pressure lubricated with SAE30 oil at an inlet temperature of 82celcius degrees and at a supply pressure of 350kPa. Corresponding to a radial clearence of 0.064mm and a speed of 2800 rpm, determine: a) the max radial bearing load (W) that can be carried b) the temperature increase, c)the minimum oil-film thickness d) the side flow of the oil e) the maximum oil film pressure and f) the power loss.
