QA Education Ltd is a small company of specialists who provide consultancy and bespoke software solutions to Universities seeking to meet the quality accreditation standards of The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). QA Education Ltd has two main offices situated in Sunderland and Brighton. The former is the company's head office. Julie works as a consultant out of the Brighton office. She joined the company in February 2020.

In January 2022, the company formally notified Julie that she was being transferred to the company's head office from 1^st April 2022, and that her salary would be reduced by 20% following the withdrawal of a southern living allowance. This allowance, designed to reflect the greater cost of living in the South of England, is granted to staff working out of the Brighton office. Julie, adamant that she does not want to move to Sunderland, categorically refused to accept the transfer order, stating that he had been employed to work in Brighton not Sunderland. The company in turn informed her that she would have to agree to the transfer, as she was needed in Sunderland. Finding her position untenable, Julie wrote to the Managing Director of QA Education Ltd on 1^st March 2022 resigning from her contract of employment with immediate effect.
