QSO 440 Final Project Guidelines and Rubric

Overview

For the final project for this course, you will select one of two case studies from the textbook. The final project is an opportunity for you to apply the knowledge of project management that you acquired throughout the course. You will evaluate project management implementation in your chosen case study on the following elements:

  • Project planning, initiation, and project charter development and effectiveness
  • Risk management, top-down budget estimation, and bottom-up budget estimation
  • Project activity and work breakdown structure management
  • Integration of project management knowledge areas

You will apply the knowledge of project management acquired in the course and conduct an in-depth analysis of a real-life project. Select one of the following cases from the textbook to critique:

  • Heublein: Planning a Project Management and Control System, located in Chapter Six
  • Automotive Builders, Inc.: The Stanhope Project, located in the Additional Case Study section of your textbook

In your response, include aspects of the project life cycle, phases, use of project management software tools, or further integration of project management knowledge areas to the selected case study. Support your main ideas and response to the questions using project management concepts and theories learned in the course.

To ensure your final project is successful, avoid providing only your personal beliefs on the case study. Your response should include applicable project management knowledge areas or theoretical concepts. In addition to the textbook, keyword searches of the Shapiro Library database can be useful in identifying peer-reviewed articles that support main ideas and responses to case study questions.
