Qt-14: The proximate analysis of coal is: Moisture: 2.9%, Volatile Matter: 29.4%, Fixed Carbon: 58%, Ash: 9.7%,S:0.5% and H:4.5%. Calculate the followings : a) Proximate analysis on (i) Moisture free basis and (ii) Dry ash free basis. b) Estimate the calorific value (LCV) in kcal/kg on dry basis. Q-15: The ultimate analysis of bituminous coal (dry basis % ) is : C:77,H:5.8,N:1.7,0:4.8,S : 2.5 and ash: 9. The moisture content is 5%. The gross calorific value estimated using the Bomb's calorimeter was found to be 7650kCal/kg on dry basis. Using the Dulong's formula calculate the followings: a) Gross calorific value, moist basis \& dry basis (kJ/kg) b) Net calorific value, moist \& dry basis. ( kJ/kg)
