law enforcement data. Discuss the six general data integrity issues highlighted by Boba
(2001:3839). Your discussion must include a description of each issue, the causes
thereof and suggestions on how each issue can be addressed. (18)

2.1 Implementation, maintenance and security is the final phase in the development cycle
of information systems. Describe the process of implementing new information
systems and compare it with how new information systems are implemented in your
organisation. 3 marks will be awarded for the description and 2 marks for comparison.

2.2 A critical challenge for policing/law enforcement organisations is collecting, capturing,
storing and disseminating knowledge within the organisation. With the ongoing labour
turnover of experienced policing/law enforcement officers, a great deal of knowledge
is lost because it is not extracted, captured and stored for future use. Demonstrate
how this challenge can be overcome by using expert information systems. Your answer
must give a brief description of the system (1 mark), the components related to its
functioning (6 marks) and three advantages of expert systems (3 marks).(10)
2.3 Policing /law enforcement managers function on various levels. They use management
information systems (MIS) to support them in proper planning, decision-making and
problem solving. State the type of decision taken at each level and the purpose of the
decisions. Support your answer with practical workplace examples (do not use
