QUESTION 1 [30 MARKS] Place yourself in the context of planning for the building of the Moses Mabhida stadium. Having been tasked to be the principal project manager of the stadium project by Julie-May Ellingson, head of the strategic projects unit, a major part of your responsibility is to ensure that the project schedule is properly developed and managed to the expectations of the active stakeholders. The project needed to be completed before 32 months due to the constraints of the kickoff for the FIFA World Cup tournament. The unique design and attributes of the project, however, means that there are no previous benchmarks to align time to tasks. The project team therefore had to use PERT analysis to develop the project schedule. The table below illustrates the optimistic, most likely and pessimistic times for each activity, calculated in durations of months. 1.1 Calculate the expected time of activities for this project. Time to be calculated in months. Please note that all activity durations must be rounded off to the next whole number. (9) 1.2 Construct an AON network for the activities of this project. (9) 1.3 Determine the critical path for the project using slack. (9) 1.4 Wil this project be completed on time? Justify your response. (3)
