Question 1 a. An approximately circular catchment area of 31.195 km catchment area is located in a desert region with no vegetation. The average annual precipitation is 200 mm. The average annual outflow from the catchment is 43200 m/d. Compute the average annual evaporation from the catchment in mm and the average daily evaporation in m/d. In this catchment area, an irrigation project was developed covering the size of the trapezoid ABCD. The coordinates A, B, C and Dare (3000, 3000). (6000, 3000), (8000, 5000) and (1000, 5000). After full development of this irrigation project, the average annual outflow from the catchment was observed to be 15120 m/d. Compute the average annual evapotranspiration in mm and the daily evapotranspiration in m/d from the irrigated trapezoidal area, assuming no change in evaporation from the rest of the catchment. b. The Table below provides the annual rainfall records at gages A, B, C, D and X. The records of A, B, C and D are consistent. Gage X was temporarily relocated in January 2012 and was returned to the original station in January 2016. Adjust the 2012 to 2015 records of X, and determine the adjusted average annual rainfall at the X gage for the period 2006-2015.
