Mitville charges a $375-per-day fine for each day that the completion of the consulting work is past the due date; Pointech charges a fine of $400-per-day for each day late; Letwork charges a fine of $300-per-day for each day late; Chem Services charges a fine of $325- per-day for each day late; Zap Research charges a fine of $450-per-day for each day late; Select Pro charges a fine of $350-per-day for each day late; Opher & Sons charges a fine of $425-per-day for each day lateand Azolph Group charges a fine of $275-per-day for each day late. A. Prepare alternative schedules based on the following priority rules: SOT, FCFS, EDD, STR, CR and another rule-Longest Processing Time (LPT), which orders jobs according to longest assigned first, second-longest assigned second, and so on. Consider lateness as being equivalent to tardiness, therefore every instance of early completion, i.e., Flow Time < Due Date = 0.2. B. Prepare a summary table showing each priority rule, the respective total late fines and the total net income (total net income = total income-total late fines) for each priority rule. C. Which rule provides Bill with the best schedule? (For the sake of simplicity, assume that consulting work is performed seven days a week.) D. Give reasons for your answer to question 3. (above).
