After years in court and in rehab, and now deeply in debt, elderly classic rockersNuns with Luggagedecide to reunite. They hire Michael Scott as their manager, entering into a 5 year contract with him. The contract, however, is not put into writing.

After one month, the band realizes it was a huge mistake to hire Mr. Scott as their manager, and they terminate the contract. Mr. Scott is annoyed and threatens to sue for breach of contract.

The band tells him he's not going to be able to enforce the contract. The band is correct.

What rule will prevent the contract from being enforced?

Oscar runs into his old friend Felix at a party. Felix's marriage has broken up, and Felix needs a place to live. Oscar happens to own an empty duplex apartment, and he agrees to allow Felix to live there for the next 18 months for $1200 a month. Because they're old pals, they don't put their agreement in writing.
