Communication and the transfer of information from the management to the shareholders are among the many aspects of corporate governance. One of the purposes of holding a shareholders' meeting is for shareholders to gain information about the company. The Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance for instance. emphasises that the directors should utilise this event esPecially through the Annual General Meeting (AGM) to improve communication with the shareholders. During the shareholders' meeting, shareholders are allowed to ask questions and request explanations. They may express their opinions on any matter regarding the company. At the same time, information will be passed over to the shareholders through circulation of documents. An active involvement by the shareholders in gathering information will irreversibly lead to well-informed resolutions.
