Saba was crossing the street at the crosswalk when she was hit by a car. Car A was approaching the crosswalk as Saba pressed the button to cross. Car A started slowing down. Car B (the car that hit Saba) swerved around Car A to overtake Car A. Saba commenced crossing the street when Car B hit her. She does not remember anything after that. Your friend, Adelle, who was approaching the crosswalk on the other side of the street, saw the whole thing. She stayed with Saba until the police came and told the police what she saw. She gave the officer her contact information and then headed home. You saw Adelle at school the next day, and she told you everything. She asked about the applicable law and what may happen to the driver of Car B should the matter proceed to court. You decide to study the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (the Act) on e-laws. Answer the following questions. 1. Although it is often referred to as a pedestrian "crosswalk," the Act refers to it as something else. Skim through s. one definitions until you find the term used instead of a crosswalk. What is it called? (Hint: It still starts with "pedestrian"). 2 Even though it is called something else, I will still refer to it as a crosswalk in these questions. What section of the Act addresses the rules of the road associated with a "crosswalk"? Write the proper citation below. (There is no need to write all the subsections, just the section this topic falls under.) 3. According to the Act, Saba has the right to cross the street safely. She also has responsibilities. Properly cite the sections and subsections that address her responsibilities when crossing. (Use this method to write your answer: s. 123(4)(a): not wearing high heeled shoes in winter". As you guessed, this is not a real answer. It is just an example of how you will cite the section and offer a description of what the section says)
