Question 4 Read the following case study and answer the questions that follow Bo (Pty) Ltd believes in employee motivation. The employees in the company receive a salary package, which includes car allowance and insurance. house loans, accident insurance, funeral insurance. fire insurance, basic salary. gratuity for expatriates and pension funds for citizens. Employees are provided with houses. employees are trained through seminars and workshops. Some are even sent to do their diplomas and higher qualications through company sponsorships. Employees are promoted on merit. Senior management encourages teamwork and employees to learn from each other through teams. To promote teamwork a party is thrown every month end to allow staff to mingle together and know each other. Employee turnover is very low compared to other businesses in the same industry. Employee morale is very high and everybody is enthusiastic. One employee started off as a cleaner, she worked so hard that management trained her as a receptionist. While a receptionist she worked hard also such that she was taken to a purchasing department as a purchase clerk. She applied for a course in purchase and supply management and the company paid for her. Now she is a Purchase and Control Manager. She is proud of her accomplishments and her life has drastically changed. She is now a member of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) and the company pays for her subscriptions.
