QUESTION 10
H3: The relationship of ad type and purchase intent will vary as a function of affiliation need such that those with a high affiliation need will endorse a higher purchase limit for "family friendly" ads and lower purchase intent for "solitary man or solitary man" ads, while those with a low affiliation need will show a lower purchase intent for "family friendly" ads and higher purchase intent for "solitary man or solitary woman" ads.
- For H3, a new hypothesis will be: Family friendly ads will result in greater purchase intent than ads focusing on the solitary man or solitary woman. Note the study will use 100 Ss (50-50 M-F).
In this study, need for affiliation will be dichotomized such that a score at or below the median will be considered low affiliation and those greater than the median will be high affiliation. Assume there is a full range of scores on the scale which yields a score from 1-50.
Specify one loss that might result from using this approach to quantifying need for affiliation instead of using the full range of individual scores. Note: this can be a relatively short answer.
