QUESTION 2 [17 MARKS] A car has a mass of 900 kg, the moment of inertia of each wheel is 1,675 kgm2 and that of the engine parts is 0,2 kgm2. The effective diameter of the road wheels is 620 mm and the maximum engine torque is 65 Nm at an engine speed of 3000 rev/min. If the resistance to motion is in newton is given by R = 140 +0,09v2, where v is the speed in km/h, find the road speed and the acceleration of the car when the gear ratio is 13,5 to 1 and the engine is developing full torque at 3000 rev/min. The efficiency of the transmission is 88%. Draw the free body diagram of the car. Answer the question in the space provided below. If necessary continue on the page opposite.
