Having won many national and international awards he expects his staff to be always fired with enthusiasm and go the extra mile to prove their productivity. His project manager, Shila, a local Malaysian however fails to have a meeting of the mind when it comes to some issues. She believes in effective communications and work-life balance. Gerad on the other hand has tried time and again to have meetings with her and highlights his personal brand of productivity to smoothen things but had failed. This unfortunately led to disciplinary action that had to be taken as a result of his official complain to the human resources manager. Ironically however, he would love to have her on board his team but he now faces a dilemma as he does not know how to go about it. The above case highlights many issues in both personal, organizational and cultural conflicts. a) Explain the different types of conflicts that an individual or an organization faces and highlight 3 possible conflicts that you think Gerad, the entrepreneur from UK is facing in the case study example.
