Question 2. Election (25%)

The KGK Club, the most prestigious golf club in the country, elects a president every

four years. The election is coming up next month and there are two candidates

competing for the prestigious role, Mr. Grump and Mr. Bodas. An opinion poll was

done where 110 members were asked for whom they would vote. The results can be

found in the fileGrump and Bodas.xlsx. The first column indicates, which candidate

would get the vote of the individual asked, with 1 indicating Mr. Grump and 0

indicating Mr. Bodas. The second column represents the age of the individual asked.

The third column indicates the handicap index of the individual (the lower the index,

the better the golf player).

attract wealthy individuals while Mr. Bodas's focus is on attracting exceptional

golfers. Therefore, it is expected that the members of the KGK Club that are good

golf players are more likely to support Mr. Bodas. (Lower handicap means better

player). Does the opinion poll support that idea?

better he or she is at playing golf? Verify without using regression analysis.

e) (5%)Do you believe the opinion polls leading to the recent parliamentary election

in Iceland did a good job at predicting the outcome of the election? Provide two

arguments to support your view.
