A shearbox test was performed in the laboratory on a soil sample with box dimensions of 60 x 60 mm. The test was performed under undrained conditions and displacement was measured up to failure (i.e the dial gauge displayed a reverse reading). Analyze the test data in the table that follows and do the following:  

1.1 Provide the shear stress against shear distance curves on graph paper.

1.2 Determine the maximum shear stress at 15% of the shear box length. Indicate clearly where the shear stress occurred.      

1.3 Calculate the normal effective stress on each sample. Show all calculations.

1.4 Determine the strength parameters and use the correct units of measurement.   Use graph paper and add these answers on the graph.
