Question 3 Joseph is a trainee accountant, working in the accounting department of Bloggs and Co plc (B&C), which is a clothing retailer. When carrying out a review of his recent work, his manager has found the following 1. Joseph had purchased a new computer from his friend, John, who works for one of B&C's IT suppliers, at a price well below the market price. He had not told anyone about this. 2. Joseph had attended an inventory count at a B&C warehouse. He had observed that a batch of expensive men's suits had been badly damaged in transit to the firm's warehouse, but had not noted this in his record of the inventory count. 3. He had become very friendly with Harold, the financial accountant at FS Ltd, a firm of financial advisers, and had been giving Harold information about B&C's performance in general conversations when they played golf together. 4. Joseph had recently been involved in a public demonstration outside work hours in support of environmental activists who are in prison for a variety of offences. The demonstration turned violent and several arrests were made by the police. Joseph was not involved in the violence and was not arrested Joseph's manager is concerned that Joseph's behaviour is in violation of the 2009 IFAC Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants.
