Question 4 (5 marks)

In 1973, Southland Corporation agreed to a licensing agreement with Ito-Yokado for Seven-Eleven stores in Japan. However, in 1990, Southland Corporation was acquired by Seven-Eleven Japan and Ito-Yokado. Prior to this acquisition, the Seven-Eleven stores in the United States were operated by Southland Corporation and those in Japan were operated by the Ito-Yokado group. However, starting with the acquisition, Ito-Yokado Holding (IYH) was responsible for stores in the US as well.

In order to improve the operations and supply chain of Seven-Eleven USA, IYH brought some major changes.
