a) While driving towards Ottawa, Paul started paying tolls nearly 100 miles away from the city where the roads were not congested.

b) As Paul entered the city, he continued paying tolls but now roads were heavily congested with traffic.

c) To avoid paying tolls, on his way back home, Paul took a different highway. Initially the road was heavily congested but at least he was not paying tolls.

d) Eventually, the traffic thinned out and the roads were no longer heavily congested and he was not paying tolls.
