Question 4
The following data is from a food industry product development study looking at how the perceived taste of saltiness is affected by the presence of sugar together with the salt.
In the study the 9 human subjects had to rate the saltiness of a liquid containing salt and sugar. Each subject tasted a sample of the same liquid and rated it on a scale from 0 to 300 according to their perception of how salty it was. You can assume that this rating is a quantitative variable. Here are the ratings:
Saltiness |

Q4A Work out the five number summary for the variable. Use the calculation method for the canonical boxplots.
Q4B Are there any outliers in this data? If so, what are they? Use the calculation method for the canonical boxplots.
Q4C Assuming the 9 subjects in this experiment were representative of humans more generally, what conclusions would you draw from this data about human perception of saltiness? Express your answer in words using the terminology of exploratory data analysis.
