The operating pressure of a distillation column is 480kPa(g). A storage tank operating at 500 kPa (a) provides a feed stream for the column through a pump. The feed is a liquid with a viscosity of 0.5cp and a density of 950kgm3. The pipe, which connects the storage tank and column is 50m long and is made of commercial steel with a 49.25mm inside diameter. If atmospheric pressure is 101.325kPa (a) and the feed point of the column is 8m higher than the outlet point of the tank, calculate the head of the pump if the flow rate is 10m3hr. for a commercial steel pipe is 0,000045m. Figure 5 shows the schematic diagram of the storage tank connected to the column and details of all the losses of the pipeline is given in the Table 1 below. NB.(g)= gauge pressure and (a)= absolute pressure
