One of the most important shots a golfer hits is their drive; they must hit the ball a great distance, but also be precise. Data was collected for 195 PGA Tour golfers over the course of an entire season. The average distance of a golfer's drive was calculated, as was the percentage of fairways hit (a common measure of accuracy). The final dataset includes 105 observations for a golfer's average driving distance (in yards) and their driving accuracy (% of fairways hit). The scatterplot displays the relationship between these two variables. Some summary statistics and R output for a linear regression analysis are also shown below.
