Question 8 To prevent a pump of getting into contact with dirty (possibly corrosive) water the following set-up has been developed to pump dirty water to the surface (see figure). The pump is sending clean water (with a relative high velocity) into a pipe so that the clean water makes the dirty water to flow. At point 2 the velocity profile is flat. You can assume that all the velocity profiles are completely flat. The dirty and clean water have the same density and viscosity. a.) Calculate the volumetric flow rate of the dirty water that is pumped up. b.) Calculate the suction head for the dirty water, what is possible to obtain with this setup. Neglect any frictional losses. c.) Calculate the mechanical energy loss between points "1" and "2". Again neglect any frictional losses
