The National Treasury is responsible for managing Kenya's National and County Levels of Government Finances. The National Treasuryderives its mandate from the Constitution 2010, the Public Management Act 2012 and the Executive order No. 2/2013. The National Treasury executes its mandate in consistency with any other legislation as may be developed or reviewed by Parliament from time to time.
With its mandate and using the Public Finance Management Regulations, 2020 the National Treasury established the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. The main purpose of the fund is to mobilize resources for emergency response towards containing the spread, effect and impact of COVID-19 pandemic.
