Questions: 1. What is the promise of Big Data, and how does Luminar plan to exploit it in order to create value? Luminar essentially was created to be the data analytics for Entravision, which was a Latino broadcasting company. In my opinion I feel like the proposal was very simple in the way that they tried to use big data. Frank Buytendijk said that we "pay to much attention to volume\" but volume is only one of three "three V's\" of data. Th other two variety and velocity may even be more important. Luminar's strategy is basically based on the premise that it is better to sell consulting services rather than sell data. Meaning that they will offer their expertise to interpret the data and offer an analytic service instead of selling it. Luminar's value proposition is that the use of data in a different way that can provide specialized consulting services to corporations and in turn is beneficial because it protects individual privacy. Luminars uses Big data for things such as collecting non-personal information including social, religious, purchasing habits, political preferences, health concerns and financial data
