Questions: Question A (8 pts): Describe and agent and environment system? Explain the 5 important abilities that an agent, may or may not, have, as discussed in lecture. Explain how a finite state machine can capture the states of a simple agent in a simple environment, and allow analysis of the intelligent and not-so-intelligent behaviors of that agent in that environment. Question B (8 pts): Explain the Dynamics Approach to cognitive science, including the idea of dynamically changing representations, interaction with the perceptual-motor loop, and emergent behavior in Cog and subsumption architecture robots. Also, explain emergent flocking behavior in the BOIDS video clip. Question C (10 pts): Explain each of the 4Es of cognition, as described in the videos linked into lecture notes. What are examples given in the videos of each of the Es? Do you think these 4Es are, at least to some extent, challenges to the traditional CRUM approach to cognitive science? Question E (4 pts): Discuss your thoughts on how Boston Dynamics robots have made progress in Al that was originally ignored in the original GOFAI formulation of Al.
