Qverview-- same video but now we focus on decision-making (which is what John is doing...) Decision making is a constant in our lives. How well we make decisions determines our success and the success of our organizations. As you know from our previous discussion, leadership expert Elizabeth Lyle talks about revising ineffective decision making at the C-Level in the following video. Elizabeth Lyle works with large, complex organizations on leadership transformation in times of change. Elizabeth explains how she and John {middle manager) are strategizing about a decision John wants the eight C- Level managers (i.e., CEQ, Jane, and Jane's peers) to consider. However, Elizabeth suggests that he first change the ineffective, outdated C-Level decision-making process. She wants John to talk with Jane (his manager), propose a creative strategy for having an effective meeting without the eight pre-meetings, show her he's thought through the pros and cons of his strategy, and ask for her support to do a more effective decision meeting process (without the pre-meetings). You are to focus on how John can apply some of our decision-making concepts to be successful in obtaining Jane's help and support for his creative strategy for a more effective meeting with the C-Level executives. FYI: John's manager (Jane) and her peers are referred to as being in a C-level position. "C-level\" refers to the most important senior executive-level managers within an organization. The letter "C," in this context, stands for "chief.\" Examples of this executive level include Chief Executive Officer (CEQ), Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Human Resource Manager, and Chief Green Officer. The diverse C-level (executive) managers work together to ensure that a company stays true to its established plans and policies.
