When selecting a builder, I would want to be aware of their reputation. I would investigate past projects done by the builders and focus on how they performed. Not only would I be interested in how they have succeeded, but how they will handle changing plans and problems that may arise. Another thing I would prioritize is using a local building company. Since I am building a sport complex for my community, Ithink using a local company would raise support and help out the economy of the surrounding area. Once I start receiving bids, I won't base my selection solely on the price. There are more important things than just saving money. such as making sure the contractor bidding works safely and well. I do not want to sacrifice quality of work to save a couple dollars. I want to choose a firm that has a \"reputation for working safely. From protecting themselves to protecting your residents, staff, customers, students, congregation, or whoever is on or nearby the site while construction is going on. their commitment should be unwavering" (Horst, 2022). Besides safety, I would look into what the nal bid price includes. I would want to be aware of what I am paying for and how each bid differs. For example, what subcontractors would be used? I would want the subcontractors to have a good work ethic and integrity, just like the main contracting company. After reading over and investigating the bids and choosing the best, safest, and most cost-effective bid, I would form the final contract. In the contract I would be concerned with timing and price promises. I would want the contractor to be aware of my timeline and agree to get the construction done in a timely manner. I would also look out for the type of contract. I think I would want to avoid having a lump sum contract so that the project price would be flexible,just in case I have changes in my plans.
