Read, analyze and create key PM deliverables based on the case to address the question: Was this project successful? Why or why not? The case study exemplifies project management in action and is your opportunity to practice project management techniques. Look for implications of some key PM areas: charter, scope, cost, schedule, resources, risk, quality, stakeholder management, success factors, communications, ethics, and even emotional intelligence. Be sure to reflect these components as you make the case for a success or not. Additional research must be done from a variety of other sources to enhance your final deliverables which are outlined below.
Teams: Three teams have been created randomly. I suggest meeting virtually by April 20 to establish group roles. I also suggest meeting weekly after that to discuss your content.
Establish Group Roles: In your first meeting, initiating and planning occur for the group. Meet up with your group, determine roles, determine team agreements, determine content components, and determine deliverables. Each person may take on up to 2 roles in the group. Example roles include:
Team leader/facilitator (oversees overall structure and planning for this assignment),
Scribe (takes notes during group meetings), I suggest having two individuals for this role.
Timekeeper (works with leaders to schedule out time frames and milestones),
Quality Control (makes sure all components of the assignment are met),
Presentation/Graphics Lead (organizes the final PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation for submission),
Final Submitter (This is the 1 person who will upload the final presentation slides and video link on behalf of the group).
Personalization: Interview team members to ask about their personal experiences, professional experience or research experience. Include personal reflections based on team members experiences in final project.
Develop Presentation: Discuss individual notes and perspectives on the case study and consolidate into one comprehensive PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation. Include personal experiences and name team members with as the source in those cases.
The presentation must include the Project initiation and Planning items to include:
Part 1: Overall project objective, project success factors, and high-level scope, milestone schedule, and budget
Part 2: Key stakeholders with stakeholder interests and initial risks
With regard to project Execution, Monitoring and Controlling it should include:
Part 1: Risk management insights based on what has happened and how the situation(s) were addressed, linking to how stakeholders changed or how their expectations changed. Recommendation use a Risk Register (such as this one from ProjectManager.com: ProjectManager_Risk_Tracking_Template_ND23.xlsxLinks to an external site.. Identify and prioritize these risks. Show the top 5 risks in your presentation analysis.
Part 2: Cite the types and frequency of communications to be used in these critical situations. Recommendation - use a Communication Register to show these critical communications. Download the Communications Plan Template from ProjectManager.com ProjectManager-Communications-Plan-Template-ND23.docxLinks to an external site. Include a Communications Events Table within your presentation.
