  1. Read the article below entitled Job Switchers Are Earning a Lot More Than Those Who Stay. By Julia Carpenter, July 25, 2022, Wall Street Journal

With prices rising, pay is arguably becoming the most important aspect in retaining workers because job switching is an effective strategy for boosting pay. Job switchers are increasing their pay faster than people who stay in their roles. Job stayers who stayed in their job for the past three months increased their wages by about 4.7%, while those who switched jobs received a raise of 6.4%. The differential between stayers and leavers is the largest it has been in two decades. Even workers who are not unhappy in their current roles are leaving. Leaving a job you love for a pay increase does come with risks. Companies may use a last-in, first-out policy if they cut positions in the next economic downturn. The new job could come with new responsibilities or a different work culture. Stayers enjoy consistency and the potential for future advancement to leadership positions. They may also benefit if people leaving the company causes their employer to re-evaluate their payrolls.
