. Employers often try reclassify individuals who should be employees as contractors, especially employees who make lower amounts. Generally, there have been tests to determine whether an individual is an employee or contractor to prevent fraud from employers. However, the rise of ride sharing apps such as Uber and Lyft and have left many of these tests dated and obsolete in todays rapidly advancing tech environment. To complicate matters, many individuals often drive for both Uber and Lyft. Please discuss whether you believe that Uber drivers should be considered employees instead of contractors? What factors would you use to determine the right classification for drivers?
