Read the below information and then provide an additional play-centered game to help develop the two early literacy skills?

  • The game would be centered around poetry and storytelling with real items. This game would be to read a poetry packet that I would send home and create their own living poem out of 5 household items that are found within their house. They would then create a poem, write it out, and take photos of the poem in a live-action type of way with the items. This would take immense creativity, maybe some giggles, and be really personal and meaningful. For children to collaborate with their families and their peers as authors would be a beautiful way to encourage diversity and inclusivity. These would then be sent to me via email and posted in our library as a poetry book made by them! We would even have a hot chocolate day and allow students to pretend they are at a cafe and share their poems with their peers.
