Week 4 Instructions

Please read the following additional details regarding the Recreation and Wellness Intranet project before completing the week 4 assignments:

The Recreation and Wellness Intranet project team has been working hard to ensure that the new system they develop meets expectations.

First of all, the team has been asked to refine the existing cost estimate for the project so they can evaluate supplier bids and have a solid cost baseline for evaluating cost performance. Recall that schedule and cost goals are to complete the project in six months and for under $250,000.

The team has a detailed scope statement, but the project manager wants to make sure they are not forgetting any requirements that might affect how different people view the quality of the project. He knows that the projects sponsor and other senior managers are most concerned with getting people to use the system, improve their health, and reduce healthcare costs. System users will want the system to be very user-friendly, informative, fun to use, and fast

Development a cost model for the project similar to the one on page 269 (figure 7-2) of the textbook. Use the following work breakdown structure for preparing this model; also assume a labor rate of $100/per hour for the project manager and $60/per hour for all other team members. Assume that none of the work is outsourced, labor costs for users are not included, and there are no additional hardware costs. The total estimate should be $200,000. (Note: this is not a full time project for the assigned project manager!)
