1. Rina could not reach the bowl on the top shelf of the cupboard, so she stepped on the lower cupboard drawer to hoist herself up. She slipped, fell backwards, and the bowl smashed into little pieces.

2. Tam's cookies were ready to come out of the oven, but she could not find the oven mitts, so she used a dishtowel that was a bit wet. The heat went through the towel, and she dropped the hot pan and all the cookies went onto the floor.

3. Eugene was talking to his buddies and was not paying much attention. Next thing he knew, the frying pan he was cooking bacon in had caught fire. He grabbed the blazing pan to take it to the sink. All the grease spilled out of the pan onto the floor. Luckily, Eugene only received minor burns.

4. Rahim was cutting a tomato in his hand and received a deep gash.

5. Rushane was in a hurry to get the dishes done before the end of class. He put everything into the hot, soapy dishwater. Then he left to gather his books. His lab partner, Luis, went to wash the dishes and quickly withdrew his hand from the sink. Luis had cut his forefinger.

6. John was grating carrots for the carrot cake and he grazed his knuckles. He licked the back of his hand and continued grating.

7. Milton saw the delicious cookie batter and stuck his finger in the bowl to have a taste.

8. Linh wore a new blouse with flowing sleeves and four-inch shoes to work in the kitchen today.

9. Mike was flicking his buddy, Marlon, with a dishtowel, and it hit Marlon sharply in the eye.

10. Cory's toast got stuck in the toaster. Cory stuck a knife into the toaster to get the toast out.

11. Carl tried to eject the beaters from the electric hand mixer. The beaters jammed, so he tried again. Somehow the mixer started up, and his fingers got caught in the beaters. He went to the hospital where, luckily, the doctor was able to reattach his fingers.
